The Pyrohiv Open-Air Museum, which is also known as the National Museum of Ukrainian Architecture and Culture, happens to be THE largest open air museum in all of Europe. The 1.3 million square meter coverage of the museum is absolutely vast and totally awe striking. The beauty of this museum is in its unique approach towards projecting the life of Ukraine as a whole. It essentially reproduces and presents, in its own way, the traditional ways of life that people follow in different parts of Ukraine. That is what makes this museum an ideal place to witness and understand the way of life that the Ukranians led hundered years ago. The museum was founded in the year of 1969 and it is located in the south of Kiev. The buildings that form a part of this museum complex include windmills, cafes, huts, a priest school and barns among many others. There are also many household items on display here for the visitors to see. Every religious holiday is celebrated here in its most traditional manner, essentially due to the fact that three churches are located on the very grounds of the museum itself. Every weekend is wonderful here, as the museum organises a host of activities, like markets and craft classes and the likes.
