Santa Clara Island is one of San Sebastian’s most popular sights situated in the middle of La Concha Bay. The island is serene to look at from afar and is beautiful from within as well. Stretching 400 meters across the sea and 48 meters high, it has an uninhabited lighthouse on the top. Ferries make regular trips to the island from the harbor every day during summer. You can also rent a kayak and make your way to the island. It is a nice break from the crowded and busy city, with a tiny beach that only reveals itself for a few hours when the tide is low. The beach may be small, but very popular and unique, with lifeguards watches over the shore. If you miss the beach, you can hike to the top of the island and enjoy a picnic lunch at one of the tables. The view of the coastline and San Sebastian’s old quarter from Santa Clara Island is very scenic and enjoyable.
Take the bus route T3/T5/T5D/33/40/45 to the harbor and take a boat to Santa Clara Island. Buses are available on this route every 6 to 12 minutes.
