The historic Old Town of San Sebastian is a maze of charismatic alleys and clusters of townhouses. The Plaza de la Constitución at its center is the most dynamic and busiest area. Near the Plaza are the noisy Pescadería (Fish Market) and the ancient Iglesia de San Vicente, San Sebastian's oldest church with a richly carved retablo. Many beautiful buildings with balconies line this square and it looks right out of a fairy tale. Stroll the quaint cobblestone streets and explore the authentic Basque tapas. The place is filled with traditional pintxo restaurants and it gets busiest during the evenings when tourists and locals pour in to taste the famous pintxos and wine. Pintxos are tantalizing gastronomic delicacies; these bite-size snacks come in a variety of choices and it is a Basque culinary adventure.
It is 1.7 km from the city center and can be reached by car. If you like to walk and enjoy the scenery, traveling on foot is also a good choice.
