About Ocean Park Beach

Ocean Park’s lesser popularity is its disguised blessing. Faced by leafy residential streets and decked by B&Bs, its broad sweep of fine, diamond-dust sand is guarded by offshore reefs and caressed by cooling seasonal trade winds. The namesake beach located in the neighborhood is perfectly calm, yet open to all: just pick a road through the low-rise gated neighborhood and heed it toward the water. The beach is very relaxing and gives you a break from the monuments and other walking activities. Lots of locals get their food and beer here and spend an entire afternoon here. The cleanliness and gentle waves make it perfect to rewind and relax.

  • The beautiful restaurants

How to reach

The beach is 7.4 km away from the city center.
Taxi: You could take a Drive from San Juan to Calle General Patton for 7 minutes.
Bus: You could take a bus line T3 from Calle Valdez to Bouret for $1. But from there you need to again take a taxi.

Tips

  • During the winter, beaches get full of algae; and during late summer/early fall, the hurricane season is at its peak.
  • Cheap food can be typically found at beach shacks
  • Bring your own beach chair and don't forget to throw your garbage away before exiting the beach.
  • Sundays are packed and overcrowded.
  • This beach is one most diversity in activities you can do, like play soccer, tennis, baseball, basketball, jogging the best part is that you can have your cooler with your beers
  • Pack a lunch - food options are limited. (And if you want a fresh piña colada out of the only beach-side stand, be sure to bring your own rum!)
