About Waitakere Ranges

Just 25 kilometres west of central Auckland, running from north to south is the chain of Waitakere Hills. Treasured with a rich variety of flora and fauna, these ranges are a valued natural jewel of the city. The incredibly remarkable hill ranges are a mixture of native forest land with long-running coastline, considered an uncommon sight. The forests are rich in a surplus variety of kauri tree. The phenomenal Karekare Falls are located in these ranges. It is a completely different world despite being so close to the city. Just a short walk can lead to an enthralling array of waterfalls, lush green trees, and small cozy natural water bodies. The enchanting scenic beauty is sufficient enough to keep one hypnotized and eager to spend time in its splendid natural wonders. It truly grants a chance to be one with nature, traversing through the Hillary Trail or enjoying one of its black sand surf beaches.

How to reach

Bus no 153 and 154 take over 35 Minutes to reach the Ranges via urban route 13. They are 26.3 kms from the city center.
