About Senso-ji

Located at Asakusa, Tokyo,  temple Senso-Ji depicts the followings of the ancient Tendai Sect of Buddhism, Kannon Bosatsu.

The Senso-Ji Kannon temple is a world-famous spiritual place of worship.

Completed in 645 it is marked as Tokyo's oldest temple.  As per legends, a statue of Kannon revived from the nearby Sumida River was enthroned at the temple for general worship in 628 B.C.

 A five-story pagoda, the Asakusa Shinto shrine adjacent to the temple is a showcase of artistic and architectural excellence.

A Thunder Gate,  Kaminarimon at the entrance, and another outer gate of Senso-Ji Temple are a symbolism of the entire city of Tokyo.
