Haji Ali Dargah is one of the most visited dargahs that we have in Mumbai. It was built back in 1431 AD by Haji Ali Shah Bukhari. He gave up all worldly pleasures before left on a pilgrimage to Mecca. This 400-year-old structure stands strong amidst the sea in Mumbai today. The Haji Ali Dargah is made of 'Makrana' marble, the same whitewashed marble that Emperor Shah Jahan used to build the Taj Mahal. The Haji Ali Dargah has two tombs of Pir Haji Ali Shah Bukhari and a mosque. The architecture of this monument reflects the styles and patterns of the era or the Mughal period and Indo-Islamic. There is no difference between caste or creed and you will find people from all over the world visit the Haji Ali Dargah irrespective of caste, religion, and creed. To reach Haji Ali Dargah from Mumbai Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus, you just need to take a local train from Mumbai CST to Byculla Railway Station. The distance between Byculla Railway Station and Haji Ali Dargah is just 3.3 km. You can hire a taxi/cab or Auto-Rickshaw or even a local bus (BEST). If you hire a taxi or a private car, then maybe you might have to shell out a lot of money.
