Ancient and historic, this is the oldest temple of Kolkata built by Rani Rashmani Devi. The temple is known for its architecture and glory. The main temple has a Kali Ma idol and there are 12 Lord Shiva temples in the temple complex. The temple has an air of peace and serenity. It is an epitome of belief and trust not only for the locals but for the tourists as well. People from all over the country visit the temple to take the blessings of Kali Ma. It is a must-visit destination in Kolkata and is a sacred Hindu pilgrimage spot.
The nearest railway station is the Dakshineswar Railway Station. One can take the metro till Shyambazar and from 5-Point Junction outside the station, either take a direct local bus or taxi up to the Gate # 12 of newly opened Skywalk that leads to the temple complex.
Basic taxi fare is Rs.30 for the first 2 km and after that the fare increases by Rs. 3 for every additional 2 km. Taxis are available at a regular frequency with 0 to 5 minutes wait time.
Basic bus fare is Rs. 7 up to first 4 km and Rs. 15 for 9 km and after that the fare increases by Re.1 for every 4 km. The buses are available every 10 minutes.
