An epitome of peace and calmness - this temple is spread across 40 acres of land. It serves as the headquarter of the Ramakrishna Math and Mission. It is dedicated to Swami Vivekanand. Math also conducts medical services, education, rural upliftment and other spiritual and cultural activities here. It is a unique example of a diverse culture of India and resembles a temple, a church, and a mosque. Temple has an aura of serenity and holiness, the holy chanting by the monks, make it more mesmerizing. It is a perfect getaway destination for the solitude of mind and heart.
It is located 4 km from the Howrah Railway Station. From there, bus number 54 can be taken to the Belur, which drops the visitors at the entrance of the Math.
One can take a taxi or autorickshaw as well.
Basic taxi fare is Rs. 30 for up to the first 2 km and after that the fare increases by Rs. 3 for every additional 2 km. The taxis are available at a regular frequency with 0 to 5 minutes wait time.
