It is one of the oldest zoos in Kolkota. There are a number of animals here including tigers, chimpanzees, black bears, elephants and birds of various species. It is spread over a wide area and is a fun place for kids to see the animals in their real form. The zoo is a good family outing place, where a good day can be spent and also educative training can be given to kids about wildlife and their preservation. One can adopt an animal and help in the funding of the zoo for its maintenance.
Travel to the nearest metro station Netaji Bhavan or the closest bus stop at Ekbalpur. From these places, the zoo is easily accessible through taxis or cabs.
Basic taxi fare is Rs. 30 for up to the first 2 km and after that the fare increases by Rs. 3 for every additional 2 km. The taxis are available at a regular frequency with 0 to 5 minutes wait time.
