Sziget festival highlights the scenic Obuda Island on the world map every year during the first week of August where the multicultural and multinational festival of Europe is celebrated. This festival, evolved in response to the lull created by the communist era in 1989 by a group of music fans now attracts people from all over Europe. It is also a winner at the European festival awards 2011 and the best major European festival of 2014. Sziget transforms this easily accessible insignificant Obuda Island into a music haven, backed by incredible headliners like Rihanna, Muse, Gorillaz, Arctic Monkeya and Kendrick Lamar to upcoming future music superstars. This festival has something for everybody. They have an electro, jazz, classical, reggae music. Also during the daytime, there are a lot of attractions and workshops like bungee jumping, circus, theater, comedy, and much more. You can camp nearly anywhere on the island and if you want to stay in a hostel, the festival is so close to the city that it's no problem at all. Or you can just do a little day trip. There really is this feeling of freedom on the island. The broad variety of music, art, culture and food choices, plenty of facilities from showers to charging points, clean toilets to camping make it all an unforgettable experience. This amazing festival is not just about music, but about sharing cultures, traditions, arts and much more. Sziget is definitely a memory to cherish for life. Simply, it is euphoria.
