About Palace of Arts (Muveszetek Palotaja)

Palace of Arts is the symbol of high-quality culture in Hungary.  Palace of Arts is a very architecturally striking building on the Danube that is used for performing arts. The palace houses three institutions: one of the best concert halls in Europe, an ultra-modern festival theater & the Ludwig Museum with its contemporary art. This modern glass and concrete building won the architectural FIABCI Prix d’Excellence in 2006 – in the category for buildings offering public services. The building was filmed in a recent movie as the setting for NASA headquarters. This beautiful building along the Danube when inventively illuminated during the evenings offers one of the very best places globally for concerts. World famous artists love to perform here because of its incredibly good acoustics. This palace is also home to the elite Budapest Festival Orchestra, one of the Top 10 orchestras of the world.  Don't miss a concert there!  Featured events include operas, jazz, dance performances, art exhibitions & kids concerts & musical teaching lessons. The equally well known Ludwig Museum ( Museum of Contemporary Art),  collects and displays masterworks of modern and contemporary art. The permanent collection contains valuable pieces of American pop art (Andy Warhol, Claes Oldenburg, Robert Rauschenberg, etc.). It focuses on Eastern and Central European art, it also puts a special emphasis on presenting the Hungarian art of the '60s  to recent days in an international context.  Check out the temporary exhibitions that showcase leading artists of the international scene as well as the best-known Hungarian masters.  Be sure to explore the museum's colorful place which is indeed a contemporary work of art as well.
