Set in the heart of the iconic castle hill district, this Hungarian gem also has its twist with history. This historic museum turned gallery was set up in 1950 during the communist era with a mission to protect and promote the art and culture of Hungary by the art fanatic György Koller. He formed the Association of Hungarian Engravers (RMAK). The association kept the art alive and nurtured it during the communist period with its high standards of quality and authenticity and earned a name of respect in the Hungarian art life and the art market respectively. In 1980 the Association of Hungarian Engravers set up Hungary’ s first “private gallery” in the three-floor atelier museum dedicated to Amerigo Tot – the world-famous Hungarian- Italian artist. It is a privilege to see some stunning artworks and personal belongings of the maestro on display. Located on a quiet street between the major tourists attractions in Buda, this gallery represents both Hungarian and international artists and features mainly contemporary pieces in stones, metal and on paper. The incredibly warm place offers exquisite original works of an art collection, including contemporary art, optical illusion, antiques, fine art photography, amazing sculptures, paintings and collages hosted in the boldly colored exhibition rooms. The invaluable art collection of some great Hungarian masters, like István Szőnyi, Bertalan Por, István Csók, Miklós Borsos and Imre Varga is the prized possession of the gallery. This classic gallery spans three floors and the top floor offers a panoramic view of the Danube. Take your time viewing the multiple rooms of diverse art or walk through the beautifully sculpted garden and get delighted by the evocative and mesmerizing sculptures. Give yourself the pleasure of owning a masterpiece, be it a painting, or sculpture of this exquisite gallery, watch it occupy a pride of place or a source of constant joy at your sweet dwelling. Art collectors and art lovers must explore this gallery as apart from exhibitions, the gallery also offers art appraisal services, professional handling, and development of art collections, and artwork sale. Art lovers can never have enough of this gallery as the gallery features various exhibitions throughout the year and true to its mission, the Koller award, is given annually to the most promising new Hungarian talent. Koller Gallery is a fine example of what a gallery can be - stimulating, informative and imaginative.
