The park stretches from Vantaa in the north to Toolonlahti Bay in the south of Helsinki. The park has crisscross graveled paths. The park covers an area of 10 square kilometers. However, the picture that comes to a person's mind when they visit "Central Park" might not do justice to this park. It is less of a typical quintessential park and more a light woodland stretch that has paths made of gravel winding through the premises. The northern extension of the Central Park, which is also known as The Paloheina Forest, happens to be a major center for outdoor activities in the city of Helsinki. Everyone who loves to indulge in some merry time along with participating in various outdoor activities will find a wonderful refuge in Central Park. The place also boasts of some varied wildlife such as different species of both mammals and birds alike. The mammals and birds one can spot here include brown and arctic hare, the black woodpecker, the elk, the badger, the red-breasted flying catcher and the wood warbler among others. With each change of season, the park also welcomes brilliant sights and sounds that keep visitors mesmerized and awe-stricken to the very core.
