Teatro Colon or the Christopher Colombus Theatre is stationed in the heart of the city of Bogota. It is considered the National Theatre of Colombia. The theatre has many names since its birth in 1972. Built in the Neoclassical style by the famous architect Pietro Cantini in 1885, the theatre comprises of an auditorium structured in the traditional horseshoe shape. It was modeled on the layout of Palais Garnier in Paris. The theatre acquired the status of a National Monument on 11th August 1975. The theatre hosts concerts, opera, ballets, plays, and electronica Dj as well.
