There are numerous museums in Bogota which are known for celebrating art and culture and are rich in their collection of works and other artifacts. Museo Del Oro or the Gold Museum contains more than 55,000 pieces of gold and other materials, reflecting Colombia’s pre-Hispanic cultures. Pre-Hispanic goldwork collections and pottery, shell, stone, wood, and textile archaeological objects attest to the thought of all the societies that together formed what is called Colombia today. The descriptions are in Spanish and English, narrating a different story and outlining the various aspects of social life. This is the most fascinating museum of not only Bogota but entire South America and is a must visit if you are in the city or nearby. To enjoy an audio guide available in English, Spanish, Portuguese and French languages, visitors need to pay COP 8,000.
