Surrounded by iconic buildings such as the Palace of Justice situated on the northern side of the square and the Parliament of Colombia looming towards the south end, Plaza De Bolivar or the Bolivar square is the main square of Bogota and considered to be the pinpoint of manifestations and protests in Colombia. Mainly famous among the tourists for its historical and political importance, Plaza De Bolivar is adorned by the statue of Simon Bolivar and was sculptured by Pietro Tenerani in 1846. The statue of Simón Bolivar located in the square is the first public monument in Bogota. On the north side of the square is the palace of justice, used by the high council today. The building is not ancient but it is the symbol of the status of the country. In the south of the square, you can see the Parliament of Colombia.
