This is one of the oldest and richly decorated churches of Bogota. The church was also a part of an adjoining Franciscan convent. But, the convent was demolished in the early 20th Century. Later, the church, after deconsecrating in 1968, was acquired by the Government. It was reshaped into a museum exhibiting paintings by some of Colombia’s most respected and noteworthy Baroque artists. The museum features a barrel vault coated in golden floral motifs overlooking walls entirely wrapped up in paintings and sculptures of saints. There are lots to see and explore at the Museo Santa Clara. If you are at Bogota, then this is a must visit.
