About Chorro Del Quevedo

According to a popular belief, the city of Bogota was founded in Chorro Del Quevedo on 6th August 1538. Gonzalo Jimenez De Quesada established his military garrison here. The place has quite a historical significance and is popular with street performers and graffiti artists. Much like Plaza De Bolivar and Chorro Del Quevedo, it attracts a horde of tourists and other visitors. It is also a most-sought after meeting ground for college students. Open space and a doctrinal chapel within the enclave add glitters to its beauty. This beautiful open space in the neighborhood of La Candelaria and can be reached by an ancient, narrow, cobblestone street, Calle del Embudo (Funnel Street). It's a nice spot to hang out at any time of day, but particularly after dark, it turns into a fun and happening place. On Friday afternoons (at 5 p.m.) there are Spanish storyteller sessions that happen here and is well worth a visit.
