About The National Art Museum of the Republic of Belarus

It is the largest art museum in Belarus comprising more than 30,000 works of art including collections of national art and monuments of various countries of the world. Today the museum is not only an art gallery but also a modern scientific and educational center for art enthusiasts. The unique collection of the Belarusian art includes ancient icon painting, sculpture, woodcarving, textile, paintings from the 16th to the 20th Century, and works of decorative and applied arts. The National Art Museum has many branch museums - the Vankoviches’ House in Minsk, the Museum of Vitold Byalynitsky-Birulya in Mogilev and the Museum of Belarusian Folk Art in Raubichi. Make sure you take the help of guides as Russian is the common language spoken here.

How to reach

You can take a train departing from Vilnius (LT) and arriving at t Minsk-Passajirskii. Take a cab to the Belarusian National Arts Museum.

You can also catch any bus departing from Vilnius station and arriving at Belarusian National Arts Museum.

Alternatively, you can also hire a taxi or cabs.

Tips

  • Opt for a guided tour as it is easy to get lost inside the building.
  • Wear comfortable shoes as you will need to walk moderately.
  • You're expected to maintain silence inside the building.
  • The people at the ticket counter doesn't know English. Opt for guides here.
  • It is difficult for visitors to understand, as everything is in Russian.
  • Weekends and evening hours are usually crowded.
  • Photography inside the building is not allowed.
  • You need to pay extra while purchasing a ticket to take photographs inside the building.
  • Audio guides are available, you can ask at the ticket counter for the same.
