The Minsk zoo was set up in 1984. The Founder of the Zoo was Fedor Revsin. He also designed the Minsk Automobile Plant, chairman of the Nature Amateurs Club of the plant. The founders found wild animals like small foxes, swans, and others who were in miserable condition and were fostered. August 9th is considered as the foundation day of the Minsk Zoo.
There are 1343 mammals in 64 species, 213 birds, 1927 invertebrates in 16 species, 19 amphibians in 6 species. The Zoo is a popular tourist attraction. This is located on the banks of the Svislach River. It also houses some of the foreign species of Lion, Leopards, Owls, Eagles, and Ducks. Monkeys, anacondas, crocodiles, and even jaguars can be found. Also, you can see terrarium, dolphinarium, aquarium, and exotarium. A new type of animal; Bison Calf was discovered and was named after the domain extension in Belarus- Bynet. The visitors are allowed to feed the animals and pat them. There are slides and swings for children and is a perfect location for families.
