Island of Tears, unlike other tourist spots, is not a place for fun or adventure. The atmosphere here is pretty calm and serious because this is a memorial for the soldiers who sacrificed their lives in the Soviet war. Hundreds of soldiers died in the war that spanned 9 years. This monument was built as a tribute to commemorate them. It is located on an island by the Svislach river. The main building is shaped like a chapel and it is surrounded by statues of women and children in mourning. There is also a statue of a crying Guardian Angel. If you look closely you can see water flowing from its eyes to the pool below.
Take the minibus ¹14 and get down at Yanka Kupala Stop. Cross the footbridge to reach the monument.
