Kensington Oval was established in 1882, located on the outskirts of Bridgetown. It is also called the Mecca of cricket locally and watching the match in this stadium is a pride. There is also a large TV and a swimming pool for visitors to watch while relaxing in the pool. Kensington Oval has hosted many historic matches in its 120 years of history. At the entrance of the stadium, there is a statue of Sir Garfield Sobers, universally recognized as the world’s greatest cricketer. Locally renamed as Sir Gary who is recognized as one of the National Heroes of Barbados. Apart from cricket the ground also hosted many non-cricket events like football, hockey, inter-school athletics, Miss Barbados pageants, and concert events. Recently it became the venue for the World Cup 2007 and the World Twenty20 finals in 2010. In the Greenwich stand, one can get a nice shade and enjoy the match. The official capacity of the ground is 28,000.
