An architectural world heritage site, colorful, striking and a treat for the eyes, the Cantonese assembly in Hoi An is definitely a place to visit. In 1885 the Cantonese merchants who frequently visited Hoi An decided to build the assembly, which features parts of the building created in China and assembled in Hoi An. But the center attraction of the assembly is the Dragon Fountain. A masterpiece designed using pottery techniques the fountain attracts most of the attention from visitors. The influence of Chinese architectural techniques is seen heavily in the design of the building, the use of red and gold colors that denote prosperity, the main gate arched with slanting tiled roof and the inside of the building with Cantonese style statues and inscriptions. The silk shop in the assembly is a great place to buy some high quality and reasonable priced silk garments and cloth.
