Humble, small and quaint are few of the words used to describe this Museum tucked away in the alleyways of old town Hoi An. But what it lacks in Grandeur and area it makes up with what is stowed away inside the little structure. With hardly any area left to let the kids run around (which should be avoided due to the beautiful contents inside) the ceramic pieces that date from the late 16th to early 18th Century are definitely unique and speak highly of the craftsmanship hours put into each and every one of them. Hoi An, a port city, took full advantage of its strategic location and was one of the topmost exporters of ceramics in the world. Asians in general developed a unique style of art and the ceramic pieces are decorated reflecting these designs, these include flowers, dragons and landscaping paintings on the pieces. The main attraction was the ceramic collection obtained from a shipwreck which extensively features designs in red and gold, the auspicious colors of the Vietnamese. A hidden gem in the old town, the museum has always been a favorite for tourists especially ceramic enthusiasts.
