In the year 2002, the gallery was found by the art director Daudi Karungi. This gallery focuses on the promotion of contemporary art from Uganda and the East African region. You can also find the collaboration of artists from Africa and other regions. Here you get to see Artworks which have been displayed in major international exhibitions, art auctions, Biennales, and art fairs. Till now, the museum has showcased 110 such works. At present, the Gallery is presenting Brain Damage, Ssekubulwa’s maiden solo exhibition. In today's world of widespread conflicts, John Baptist Ssekubulwa has chosen this as a subject in his art. He uses the brain in almost every work of his art. He wants to convey that the brain becomes vulnerable when it stands alone and thrives when it coordinates with the other body parts. Another thing which he often uses is a crow. Crow is an intelligent bird, and at the same time, it survives by poking at dead meat. The artist wants to convey the theme of exploitation with the help of Crow. Also, there are white flowers that show hope and a new beginning.
