About Wat Phra That Doi Suthep

The 19th Century Wat Phra That Doi Suthep is built on astonishing architecture & skilled craftsmanship and is considered one of the most sacred temples in the world. Initially, the Wat Phra (mountain) has to be climbed to reach the attraction, which can be done by driving a car, taking a songthaew (300 Baht), or hiking. After this short travel, you reach the base of the temple, and if you are still full of energy, climb 309 steps to enter the temple premises. The hike towards the temple would be so refreshing with the chill breeze hitting tenderly on your face.

The stunning design and ambiguous heritage create a great atmosphere in the secluded mountain. The top of the temple appears to be guarded by seven snakes or nagas, and these run through the steps entirely, making it a magical experience during hiking. The entrance is greeted by a white elephant statue and passing by; you will see a Bodhi tree, similar to the sacred tree under which Buddha meditated. Offerings can be given for reasonable luck belief and passing ahead; the first view would be the enchanting Golden Pagoda. It is a 52-foot tall structure, and the sun lighting the golden leaves in the Pagoda is a jaw-dropping view to watch. The walls surrounding the Golden Pagoda consist of many Buddha statues depicting the entire life of Buddha.

The Doi Suthep is filled with myths and miracles, which might seem hard to believe, but those are the facts displayed right in front of you. The broad terrace viewpoint would enable you to witness the beautiful city of Chiang Mai. The spectacular temple, exhausting hiking, the benefitting landscape would leave a lasting impression in the mind of the visitors.
