About Doi Inthanon

An ultimate destination to make your trip a memorable one, Doi Inthanon, is known to be a paradise of  Chiang Mai. It is about 70 kilometers to the southwest direction of Chiang Mai. The highest peak of Doi Inthanon is also mentioned as the “Roof of Thailand” as it is about 2.5 kilometers above sea level. The highest altitude keeps this place always cool and sometimes makes it reach the freezing point and even low temperatures. Inthawichayanon was the last king who maintained the forest and wanted to preserve it all the time. Hence this place was named Doi Inthanon in the memory of their king. Flora makes it look more beautiful with evergreen pine trees and deciduous trees all around. Some wild mammals are still there, and they can be seen when you go for trails.
Waterfalls welcome the visitors at various steps to give a chilling experience. Famous among them is the Kew Mae Pan waterfall. Another awe-inspiring dual-streaming waterfall is Wachirathan. Some trails offer more relaxation when you walk around just for 15 to 20 minutes, inhaling the pure and fresh air. At the highest point of Doi Inthanon, two Royal pagodas named Naphamethinidon and Naphaphonphumisiri can also be seen. They were built to memorialize the 60th birthday of King and Queen of Thailand. The pagodas are all surrounded by beautiful gardens where the visitors can spend quality time. To make the trip a more enjoyable experience, visiting the nearby tribal community is a great idea. Being there, you can also experience the taste of locally grown coffee by the residents.
