A church of religious and historical importance the Royal Chapel of St Anthony Madrid, the original resting place of the famous Spanish artist Francisco Goya was designed and painted by him. The Royal Chapel is the former burial place of the artist itself and is famous for its domes and ceilings. The dome and frescos painted by the artist are the highlights of the church.
The unique feature of the ceiling is that all of the angels painted on it are female figures. Every year on the 16th of June, a festival is celebrated at the church, during the time single women come to offer prayers for early marriage. This Neo-Classical structure was declared a national monument in 1905. An identical chapel was made next to the original so the main chapel could be converted into a museum. This small church tucked between the serene Spanish suburbs is a perfect place to unwind, rewind, relax and enjoy the beauty of Spanish design and art.
