The Museo de la Catedral de la Almudena, a treasure hidden near the Palace of Madrid, is a unique cathedral that overtime was converted into a museum. It is a site of historic and religious significance and is a hot tourist spot. The museum has three divisions: the main cathedral, museum, and a crypt; all are open to the public for viewing.
The cathedral has the main prayer room with beautiful bronze sculptures and stained glass windows with a massive organ, a perfect place to take in the majestic design of the Cathedral. The visit inside the church starts with going into the two ornately decorated chambers of the church, the Sacristy, and the Chapterhouse. The Slovene priest, Marko Rupnik furnished these chambers ith original mosaic inscriptions
The galleries are dedicated to the two famous patron saints, the Saint Isidro Labrador and reverend Santa María la Real de la Almudena. Using the objects required for festivities the second gallery also exhibits and spreads information about the Catholic Church Liturgy.
The next step is to take a guided tour of the crypt with several funeral chapels to understand its historical significance. The final spot to tour is the museum, which has several exhibitions of artworks. Its objective is to preserve them and impart information about the church to the public. A place to feature on everyone's map the Museo de la Catedral de la Almudena should not be missed.
