The Scottish National Gallery of Modern is a home for all art lovers. It contains all of the country's sensational collections of fine art, from the early Renaissance to the late nineteenth century. Here you can find everything from Raphael, Velázquez, and Vermeer to Van Gogh, Monet, and Gauguin. The best part of the collection is that it covers local Scottish paintings, which include some of the most influential artists from the country like Ramsay, Raeburn, and McTaggart, in great detail. The highlights include Raeburn's much-loved "Reverend Dr. Robert Walker Skating on Duddingston Loch" also known as the "Skating Minister."
Take part in a life drawing class in the interactive IT Gallery, or bring your kids for a storytelling session. These activities and events suit all ages. There are several shops, a cafe and an award-winning restaurant in the Gallery.
