About Adventure Park , Herastrau

King Michael 1 Park, formerly known as Herastrau Park spans across a huge area of 187 hectares, it is around Lake Herastrau. The Adventure Park was inaugurated in 1936, the largest of all the public parks in Bucharest. Elisabeta Palace, the current residence of the Romanian Royal family, is located in the park The Arcul de Triumf another landmark, lies in the vicinity. The Dimitrie Gusti National Village Museum, showcasing traditional peasant life and hundreds of houses from across Romania, is also one of the many attractions. The yacht club, Sports club, Open-air theatre, Herastrau Hotel and the Diplomatic Club with a golf course in tow are a few of the main highlights of the attraction. The park is fun-illed with exciting games and a theme park with good infrastructure and machinery. The park is ideal for jogging, long and short walks and running. It has 6 km. of pathway beside the river and is full of nice trees and places. Good dining places and a river cruise make it an absolutely enticing package for a day-out.

How to reach

Now called King Michael 1 Park. One can take the Metro from Piata Romana or Piata Universitate till Aviatorilor station.

By Bus: 131, 205, 282, 330, 331, 335, 783, N113 stop is the Arcul de Triumf Station; 131, 205, 331, 335, N113 stop Muzeul Satului Station; 41, 205, 330 N113 stop Institutul Agronomic Station.

By Metro: Aviatorilor Station; By Walk: 20 minutes from the city center.

Tips

  • A great day out for the kids. Filled with great rides, exciting games and adventure filled amusements.
  • Sunday is the best day to visit the adventure park. People can be spotted by food joints with local food.
  • Can go fishing and can rent kayaks or pedal boats.
  • It is a huge park and multiple entrances which might make it slightly confusing. However, it ultimately leads to the park.
  • It has four trails of different difficulties, there is no specifically challenging one. One route serves children between four to seven years old, the other routes are for children eight years old and above. The two-hour ticket is long enough to complete all of the trails.
  • During the summer season,  you can take a boat.
  • You are permitted to fish in this lake which has been supplied with carp, however, the price is expensive.
