The Norwegian Opera House & Ballet is located at the harbour. The exterior angular architecture appears as if it has emerged from the waters of an Oslo fjord. You could climb its rooftop to get some spectacular views of the city.
The huge windows allow passerby to have a peek at rehearsals and workshop activities. Made of oak, the interior is beautiful. The main hall of the Opera House resembles a horseshoe. Designed by Norwegian architecture firm Snøhetta, it boasts numerous prestigious awards. The Opera House has three stages: the Main House (1,369 seats), Second House (400 seats), and the Studio (200 seats). The Opera roof and foyer are also used for concerts. The main building is made of mainly three materials: stone, wood, and metal. The principal stone used is the white marble from Carrara in Italy.
Food and drink are available at several sites in the Oslo Opera House.
