Norsk Folkemuseum shows the day-to-day life of the Norwegian people from 1500 to the present through its collections from around the country. The largest cultural museum of Norway, Norsk Folkemuseum boasts 160 buildings in an open-air setting. Each building represents different regions in Norway, different time periods, as well as differences in classes. There are many medieval buildings in this museum, like the Gol Stave Church dating back to 1200. Throughout the exhibitions and projects, this museum presents the contemporary history of Norway. The museum offers exhibitions which include folk art, folk costumes, and toys. Numerous exhibitions happen all year round.
The Museum is located at Museumsveien 10 on the Bygdøy peninsula, approximately. 5 km from downtown Oslo.
Bus: 30 Bygdøy from downtown Oslo to stop Folkemuseet.
Ferry: From April to September a ferry runs from Rådhusbrygge 3 by the City Hall to Dronning, Bygdøy. From there it's a 10-minute walk.
Car/bike/walk: From Highway E18 or from street Bygdøy Allé, turn off to Bygdøy. Follow the signs to Norsk Folkemuseum.
