The Natural History Museum at the University of Oslo is Norway’s biggest natural history collection. For almost 200 years it has preserved plant specimens, animal specimens, rocks, and minerals. Fossils have been collected for studies and preserved here. The public can have a peek at a selection of specimens on display. The Botanical Garden, part of the Museum, is not only popular for recreation but is a scientific collection in itself. Located under the trees of Oslo's Botanical Garden, the Museum houses two different collections. The Zoological Museum, which shows the natural wildlife and the geological-palaeontological collection, is closed for renovation until 2020.
