A Fram is a strong wooden ship built by the Norwegian explorers for polar expeditions. Unlike any other wooden ship, Fram sailed record-breaking distances to the farthest north and south regions. At this museum, you not only see the Fram but even learn how the crew members and their pets survive in the world's coldest continents - the Arctic and the Antarctic. The exhibition is translated into many languages such as English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Japanese, Chinese, Korean and Norwegian.
Still not exciting enough? Try their polar simulator to feel the cold and dangers of polar expeditions dating back more than 100 years. You can even indulge in their exhibitions on the Arctic and the Northwest Passage presented in the Gjøa building.
The museum is located at Bygdøy, a short distance from the center of Oslo and is easily reached by bus or, in the summer season, by ferry from the City Hall quayside.
