Known as Rådhuset, the City Hall is one of Oslo's most important representative buildings. As many as 300 events are hosted here every year. In the City Hall, there are the offices of the city's council and administration. Built of red brick, the building hosts the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony in which a lecture is given by the annual laureate and is awarded the medal and diploma. The attendees include the Norwegian Royal Family and Prime Minister. The interiors of Oslo City Hall were decorated by famous Norwegian artists. There are numerous paintings here, each telling its own story. The roof of the eastern tower has a 49-bell carillon which plays every hour.
Tram: You can take the 12 tram from Øvre Slottsgate to Kontraskjæret.
Bus: Bus 54 goes from Wessels Plass to Nationaltheatret. The City Hall is a 5-minute walk from the there.
