One of the most sacred Hindu temples of Nepal 'The Pashupatinath Temple' is located on both banks of Bagmati River on the eastern outskirts of Kathmandu. Pashupatinath is the most important temple dedicated to god Shiva. The exact date of Pashupatinath’s construction is unknown. Pashupatinath Temple is believed to be the oldest Hindu temple of Kathmandu. The earliest evidence of the temple’s existence dates back to 400 A.D. The current temple of Pashupatinath area was built after the original temple was destroyed by termites in the 17 century. You can find buses from City Bus Station or Ratna Park in Kathmandu. It would take 45 minutes to reach the stop for Pashupatinath Temple, Goshala. From Goshala, you can easily walk to the temple. From Kathmandu, you can find taxis and tempos that would take you directly to Pashupatinath Temple. Any tempo on the way to Bodhnath or Chabahil will run through Pashupatinath Temple. These tempos will drop you off at Ring Road which is located west to Pashupatinath Temple. You can walk to the temple from Ring Road.
