About Durbar (Palace) Squares

The Durbar much as its name suggests is a square shaped area housing several temples and palaces, which were meant as an outer courtyard to the palace. The cultural history of Nepal is reflected in each and every design of the surrounding temples. The hustle and bustle of the darbar is eclectric and one can completely immerse themselves into the local community. It is also dotted around with several local cafe's serving up favourite street foods. An area filled with the rich cultural history of Nepal and a world cultural heritage site a visit to the durbar is a must for all.
