The Nijmeh square or Place de I’Etoile is the central square of Beirut and houses the Lebanese parliament along with its complimentary buildings; two cathedrals, a museum, several cafes, and restaurants. This square is an iconic symbol of Beirut, notably for its art deco architecture.
The jewel of the square is a 1930 clock tower with its four-faced Rotex clock. Though destroyed in civil war; this square has been rebuilt gracefully with pristine surroundings. Today, it is surrounded by bars and restaurants making it a beautiful destination especially at night to see the chic Lebanese lifestyle.
