Built across an area of approximately 11,000 square meters, Mohammad Al-Amin mosque is an Ottoman architecture marvel. It is also known as the blue mosque and is a Sunni mosque. A 48-meter high blue dome and 65-meter high minarets add glitter to its beauty and the high ceilings are richly decorated with “zakhrafat” or decorations. The floor is covered with a beautiful breathtaking Persian carpet. The stunning calligraphy, detailed artwork and the extremely beautiful stained-glass windows which add a majestic and colorful effect are the things to watch out for in the mosque. This structural marvel is harmoniously co-existing with an equally magnificent cathedral.
