How to reach

Tanah Lot Temple is about 21kms from Denpasar, and it can be reached by a taxi  which takes 20 minutes to cover the distance and one way cost is  from Rp160000 to Rp200000. 

If travelling by bus then take a bus from Denpasar, Havaianas Outlet. Travel time is about 1hour 44minutes, and cost per ticket is from Rp20000 to Rp80000 to reach DFS Bus Bay. From here take another bus, to Tanah Lot.  The drive is about 30 minutes and the cost per ticket is Rp250000

A scooter can also be hired to visit the temple. You can also drive a car and if you are coming from Denpasar and arriving in the town of Kediri, you will see a large sign, at the main intersection directing you to take the southwest turn towards Pura Tanah Lot.

Many visitors visit the temple as part of an island tour.

To get to the temple its take around 45 minutes from Kuta, Legian, Seminyak and 30 to 40 minutes from Ubud.

Tourists from Kuta can get a Kura-Kura Shuttle from  DFS Bus Bay which takes about 30 minutes to cover a distance of 21.9kms and the cost per ticket is Rp250000 to reach Tanah Lot

Tourist travelling from Ubud can take Line 5 Ubud - DFS, travel time is 1hour 18minutes, ticket fare is from Rp20000 to Rp80000 till DFS bus bay. From here take a bus to Tanah Lot, the ticket price is Rp250000.

Taxi from Ubud will take 34 min to cover a distance of 32.6 km to Tanah Lot. One way cost is from: Rp270000 to Rp330000

Tips

  • As Tanah Lot Temple is on the shore, large waves near the rocks are very dangerous. Take extreme care and obey all the warning signs.
  • The place gets crowded from 10:00 a.m. We would recommend that you get there as early as possible so that you can enjoy the visit peacefully. 
  • If possible to visit Tanah Lot Temple during sunset, we would recommend to get there after 4:00 p.m. and before 6:00 p.m. as the sunset view is considered to be the best at this time
  • You can get souvenirs along the pathways, lined with stalls of souvenirs, before arriving at the beach in front of the temple.
  • It is generally known that to visit any temple in Bali, both men and women should wear a sarong, scarf or sash tied around the waist, but in Tanah Lot Temple no dress code required, as only worshippers are allowed to enter the temple.
  • Tanah Lot Temple Tour is best to visit during low tides, as you are allowed to walk to the base of the temple and be blessed by the priests there.
  • Photographs can be taken when the weather is good  and you can capture amazing sunset, if visiting during sunset hour and also enjoy unforgettable spectacular and astonishing sunset display
