Must See

  • Get to see the three temple system dedicated to the Hindu Gods, Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva. Tanah temple built to worship Bhatara Segara, or the Sea God.
  • Check out the art shops selling signature and local handicraft items at the entrance.

How to reach

The temple is situated 30 km from Ngurah Rai airport in Denpasar, on the main highway and arriving in the town of Kediri. One can't miss the large sign at the intersection that announces a southwest turn to Pura Tanah Lot. Then cross some dry land and climb a hill to reach the actual site.

You can hire a moped and just drive yourself to Pura Tanah Lot and is a cheap and easy bet. (But be forewarned about wildlife and weather conditions.) Better to hire a taxi or join a tour group.

The travel time from Kuta and Seminyak areas to Tanah lot will take about 45 minutes.

Public buses will take longer but are very cheap in Bali.

Taxis are priced at IDR 200,000 for the return trip back to Kuta and IRD 300,00 or more to go directly to Ubud.

Entrance to the temple is IRD 30,000.

Once you have cleared Denpasar and its vicinity head to the south of the island to reach the temple.
