The magnificent theater constructed in the 11th century as a gift to the citizens of the city served as the center point of entertainment in Athens. Like many other structures in Athens, this was also rebuilt over the centuries. It initially featured two structures, one for main concerts and the second the Theater of Dionysus covered with a cedar roof, which was mostly used in case of bad weather. For tourists, the theater is a place where they can sit and relax and enjoy Greek folk dances, music, and ancient plays with a beautiful marble backdrop. The huge magnitude of the structure showcases yet again the structural perfection that resonates through most of the buildings in Greece.
