The island prison is a historical venue and is quiet, calm and serene. The views from the castle are majestic, stretching all the way out to the open ocean. Once a Castle used by the French it was later converted into a prison, it is also the famed prison of Edmond Dantes in the Count of Monte Cristo.
The Museum bordered by three towers and gun embrasures, is a mammoth and bulky structure, with several stone rooms and huge wooden entrances. Transporting visitors to the dark ages, the structures and rooms resonate the feeling of strength and power, broad hallways and low ceilings with grand community halls the Chateau is definitely a place for every tourist to visit.
