About Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek Art Museum

Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek Museum displays ancient and modern art in truly unique surroundings. The museum contains two main departments-ancient and modern- combining art in impressive architectural surroundings with a beautiful and spacious Winter Garden, The Department of Antiquities houses excellent collections of Egyptian, Greek, Etruscan and Roman art, providing a delightful stroll through 3500 years of art and history. The Modern Department focuses on Danish painting and sculpture of the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as French art of the same period. There are also paintings on Denmark's Golden Age, French Impressionism as well as more than 40 works by Gauguin. A complete series of Degas' bronzes and 35 sculptures by Rodin is also on the display in the museum. It  often holds special exhibitions.

How to reach

Quickest option is taking the train to Humlebæk. A good ticket option for all zones 24 hours in the Greater Copenhagen region is priced at DKK 130. This pass is also valid for buses also

By train :From central Copenhagen, the easiest is to take the Helsingør-bound train (every 20 minutes) to Humblebæk from Copenhagen Central, Nørreport, or Østerport stations

By Walking: It is just a 15 minutes walk from the station to the museum

Tips


• Combine your visit to Helsingør town and Kronborg castle. There is also a maritime museum and a small aquarium there

• Avoid Jaywalking and wait for the green-traffic light before crossing the street.You can be fined 700 DKK (€94.12; $108) for violation of rules

• Don’t Drink while biking or driving. The Offence can cost you 1500 DKK 

• Take care while photographing, don't flash the paintings 

• If a art lover, then enjoy special exihibitions on Tuesday 

• Remember, on Tuesdays entrance is free.
