Planning a visit to Toronto? You absolutely cannot miss with a visit to the CN Tower. The tower held the record for the world’s tallest free-standing structure for 32 years, and remains the tallest free-standing structure in the Western Hemisphere.
Completed in 1976, it is one of the modern Severn Wonders of the World and an icon on the Toronto city skyline. The tower opened with three main public observation points: the SkyPod, Indoor Observation Level, and Outdoor Observation Terrace. Enjoy a fine dining experience at the Top of Toronto Restaurant that completes a full rotation every 72 minutes.
As long as you don’t experience vertigo you will enjoy looking down from the glass floor at the ground 1,122 feet below. For the adventurous spirit, book your trip to include the EdgeWalk, where you can walk on the roof of the main pod. You won’t be able to walk freely; you’ll be tied to an overhead metal rail system so you don’t fall.
Stay safely indoors and see for 100 miles in any direction on a clear day. If the sun isn’t in your eyes you’ll be able to see all the way to Niagara Falls! To get to the top, take any of the six elevators. The staircase is the tallest metal staircase on Earth, but the 1,776 stairs to the main deck are only open to public use during charity events twice per year.
The CN tower, an engineering wonder and a national landmark with breathtaking views from the top, is a place tourist's visiting the city must visit. EdgeWalk located just above the 360-degree Restaurant was introduced to draw in the thrill seekers and it definitely achieved its goal. Get on to the narrow walkway and enjoy the view of the Toronto skyline at all times during the day. Used to inaugurate events and light up the sky during national day celebrations, it's worth it to plan your visit to the CN Tower during special events. Upscale restaurants to spend the evening at, and other attractions are sure to make any day feel special. To get that post-card like picture, the CN tower is definitely the place.
