The petite skyline of Phnom Penh is dominated by the Royal Palace. The structure stands as one of the prime examples of the finest of Khmer architecture. The Royal Palace is the official residence of King Sihamoni. They reserve a major portion of the palace for royal activities and ceremonies. Visitors are allowed to enter the palace after the activities of the royalty have finished (if any). The Throne Hall, Silver Pagoda and the Napoleon III Pavilion are open for visitors. The floorings of Silver Pagoda are made of silver tiles weighing 5000 pounds. Most of them are now covered, but you can have a sneak peek at the design amongst the few uncovered ones. It is also known as the Emerald Temple of Buddha. The Throne Hall has a tall 58-metre tower topped at its head. Napoleon III Pavilion was given to King Norodom by Napoleon III of France. The design of the Napoleon III Pavilion revolves around the climate of Cambodia. The Royal Palace is richness personified, even in front of its counterpart in Bangkok. Don't miss out on this very royal experience!
