Krom Ngoy was a famous Khmer poet, singer and a master of Kse Diev. His songs and poetic teachings appealed to people across various straits of life and he included issues that were relevant to the general masses and their way of life in them. His work often illustrated working in the farm to earn a living, choose a life partner, poverty and its causes, ignorance of the people, consequences of laziness and dull life, dominance of foreigners on Khmer people, loss of sovereignty and the decline of Khmer culture and literature.
To honour this great personality of the Khmers, a lovely green park known as Krom Ngoy Garden was named after him. It features high trees, his staue and is lined by shops, street vendors and restaurants. The statue is considered to be a stunning artistic piece and is a popular spot for photographs among tourists, who can also enjoy the lush landscape of the gardens.
