The National Museum of Military History is a state museum under the Ministry of Defence and is considered one of the best military museums in the world. Established in 1916, the museum displays more than a million items pertaining to Bulgarian and European military history. The outdoor exhibition area is 40,000 m² and the indoor exhibition area is 5,000 m². The major attractions of this museum are military artillery, aviation equipment, marine equipment, collections from the first Bulgarian empire, and artifacts from WWI and WWII.
The National Museum of Military History is 4 km from City Center Sofia. You can take the metro Line 2 up to St. Kliment Ohridski station and then walk about 15 minutes on foot. However, it would be more convenient to rent a car/taxi.
